Moonlight & Magnolias Hot to Trot

Moonlight & Magnolias opens Friday May 27th for two weekends only at The Independent Theatre at Eumundi.   The Coast's premiere season stars Brett Klease as movie producer, David O Selznick, Luke Lanham as film director, Victor Fleming and Wayne Clark as ace screenplay doctor, Ben Hecht, with Miss Poppenghul (Selznick's secretary) played by Marcie Essers.  Directed by theatre legend, Carol Burns.
This comedy, based on fact, tells of the five days taken to re-write the screenplay of Gone With The Wind.
Three weeks into filming and Selznick has realised that his huge investment in Margaret Mitchell's novel, Gone With The Wind, is going down the gurgler fast, because the screenplay's not working.  He fires director George Cukor, pulls in Victor Fleming (who's two weeks off finishing filming The Wizard of Oz) and calls in Ben Hecht to fix the scenario.  But Hecht already is working on four other movies and can only give Selznick five days and the cruncher is Hecht hasn't read the book.  And this is where this very funny play starts.
The season is 7.30pm Friday, Saturday, May 27th, 28th & Friday, Saturday June 3rd, 4th, plus Sunday 29th at 2pm and Sunday 5th at 5pm.
